1972 Chronoscope Sports Edition 2024

The love of sport in general and sports timekeeping in particular have a long tradition at Junghans. This began in the 1920s with the first hand stopwatches and continued with the timekeeping of numerous sports competitions, the highlight of which was in Munich in 1972. These are the roots of the sporty 1972 watch line. The limited 1972 Chronoscope Sports Edition 2024 is available in three dial colours and colour-coordinated leather straps. All dials feature a striking double stripe, the historic Junghans lettering and the number 6 in the form of a starting number. A touch of classic motor racing resonates here.

1972 Competition

50 years after Junghans' major milestone in sports timekeeping, the new 1972 Competition sports watch honours this special moment.
The bullhead look, based on a stopwatch, with the pusher and crown at the top of the watch, as well as the orange colour accents and the oval-shaped case are reminiscent of their historical model and revive the seventies in a modern way.
The sports watch is a real eye-catcher and is limited to 1972 pieces.

As the official timekeeper, Junghans made "honest sports time" possible with new techniques such as the start control system and double light barriers. False starts were recognised immediately.
When the athletes have catapulted out of the blocks, run down the track and cross the finish line, they trigger a timing camera that captures each participant in their track.
The Junghans finish line cameras documented the race for the gold medals and provided a Polaroid colour picture of the finish line after only 10 seconds.
The electronic digital clock "counter 7202" displays the time accurately to the hundredth of a second. It also supplies the time to secondary displays, such as the stadium displays or to the TV stations.
